Veteran's Memorial

We drive by a Veteran's Memorial every time we go to Hunstville.  The boys always want to stop because there are army vehicles and helicopters sitting out front.  We finally took the time one day to go.  It was a very fun day.  They have veterans who will give you a guided tour through the memorial.  There are artifacts from all the different wars and time periods. Uniforms, papers, pictures, letters, models and so much more.  It would take you days to read everything that is in the museum.  We had a nice tour guide and the boys asked some great questions.  While on the tour an older gentleman came up and asked the boys if they liked to play army.  Of course they do!  He took them to a artifact room and let them try on lots of uniforms!  They were even able to hold real guns, knives and a bayonnet!  They loved it!  After we walked through then entire building they told the boys that they had unlocked the helicopter gate and they could go sit in it!  Oh man!  Talk about some excited boys!  Camaron declared "Museums are the best place ever"!

MUD!! And fun!!

The boys love the mud! And with 6 inches of rain in two weeks there is lots of mud! I can't tell you how many changes of clothes we go thru each day! But it is all worth it to see them having so much fun playing in the creek, throwing mud pies, going mudding on the 4 wheeler and more!

Garden Update!

The garden is growing!  It is so exciting to see the plants growing!  We have had our share of problems though!  I can name tons of new insects that are loving our plants!  I may become an insect expert!  We are doing our best to control them organically.  Now that the plants are getting bigger it seems to be working.  Also the greenhouse is doing good but it gets hot in there!  Troye has plans to do a few things to help regulate the temperature but we just haven't had time to get it all done.  Hopefully soon!  We have also realized that our soil is not great!  It is ok for some plants but it is very sandy and it lacks nitrogen so we are working on fixing that problem.  Here is a list of what we have growing:  carrots, peas, beans, lettuce, broccoli, tomatos, squash, zucchini, cucumbers, spinach, corn, pumpkin, watermelon, potatos, bell pepers, jalapenos, beets, and probably a few others that have slipped my mind!  If everything produces we will have lots of veggies! So far we have had fresh peas, spinach, lettuce and basil from the garden! It is so cool to go pick the fresh lettuce for a salad!  So excited to have more!

Peas!  We picked a few and they were great!

Squash is growing!
